Enhance your daily shower ritual

Did you know that showering as part of your morning routine can positively influence your mood for the rest of the day? Feeling fresh can increase the release of mood-boosting hormones such as noradrenaline and serotonin in your body. Showering means taking care of your body and promoting self-love at the same time: an undeniable win-win situation. For you to enjoy your shower to the full, the ambience must also be right. In many households, the bathroom is often only functional. Yet a bathroom can be much more than that, namely an oasis of well-being for all the senses. Stylish and attractive shower curtains round off your shower experience perfectly and enhance your daily feel-good ritual.

Which material is best suited for your showering pleasure?

A good shower curtain looks stylish, dries quickly and keeps mould away. To make your shower curtain a real eye-catcher, the material, among other things, is crucial. An important step is to choose a durable material that is easy to clean and also meets your requirements. There are two main types: Textile (polyester) and PEVA (polyethylene vinyl acetate). Both materials are durable, water-repellent and dry quickly. diaqua® has an attractive and trendy selection of both materials.

Solutions when the shower curtain sticks

If the shower curtain sticks to your body, it can be very unpleasant. The reason for this annoying phenomenon is the "Bernoulli effect". As a shower curtain is large but light, it reacts to a small vacuum that is created in the shower cubicle. The real question is, what can you do to stop the overly loving embrace of your shower curtain? There is an old trick; if you spray the bottom hem of the shower curtain with water beforehand and "stick" it to the bath, this will prevent the curtain from moving and give you more freedom of movement. But there are also more elegant solutions: For example, a sewn-in weighting tape (exists with textile shower curtains) or even small magnets in the hem can be helpful for carefree freedom of movement in the shower.

What options are there for installing shower curtains?

If you don't have a shower door or an open shower, you will need a hanging system for your curtain to protect your bathroom from unwelcome splashes of water. Did you know that there are many different shower curtain rails in various designs that perfectly complement any bathroom design? Do you prefer a quick, light and elegant solution that can be attached without drilling? Then spring-loaded shower rods are the ideal solution for you. These rails can be fitted in no time at all, are infinitely adjustable and can be removed again without a trace. The only minor drawback is that you are somewhat more limited in your choice of hanging options. Choose between the following alternatives if you don't want to drill:

Telescopic bars

The telescopic bar consists of two or more interlocking tubes that can be pulled out to a certain length or pushed back again; the name gives it away, just like a telescope. The shower curtains are attached using curtain rings which, depending on the type of rings, are attached to the rod before or after installation (e.g. rings with clip fasteners).

Shower curtain rail

With the shower curtain rail, the curtain is clipped onto small plastic glides. This mechanism is similar to the push-button principle. This eliminates the tedious task of threading the shower curtain eyelets onto the rings. The shower curtain is just as easy to remove as it is to hang up if it needs to be cleaned.

Both of the above alternatives always require two parallel walls between which the rail or rod is clamped. The corner rail version requires an additional ceiling rail, which is anchored with a hole for greater stability. Important: When buying your shower curtain, make sure that it is suitable for the respective system. There are shower curtains that are only suitable for rings or, alternatively, for gliders. The shower curtains from diaqua® are compatible with both systems.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE CONSIDERED WHEN CARING FOR SHOWER CURTAINS?

If the water has not yet drained from the shower tray, the curtain often hangs in the water, which is the ideal breeding ground for mould. To keep your shower curtain looking good for as long as possible and prevent mould from spreading, you should maintain it regularly. You can wash your textile shower curtain with a mild detergent at 30°C on a gentle cycle. PEVA shower curtains are only suitable for hand washing with mild detergent in lukewarm water. After washing, we advise you to immediately reattach the shower curtain to the rail and leave it to dry when removed. Under no circumstances should you tumble dry the shower curtain, and bleach and dry cleaning are also taboo. If your shower curtain is creased, you can iron it on a very low heat setting (level 1). Please note that PEVA shower curtains must not be ironed.

What are the different shower curtain sizes?

Shower curtains are available in four different sizes. These are suitable for the familiar and classic installation situations. Curtains measuring 180 x 200 cm are ideal for use in bathtubs or for shower curtain rods across corners in the shower tray (180 x 240 cm are suitable for an extra-large shower tray). If you have a bathtub without a corner, then 180 x 180 cm is ideal. Curtains measuring 120 x 200 cm are suitable for simple shower cubicles.
